Quobyte Data Center File System Wins Bronze in Storage Magazine and SearchStorage 2018 Products of the Year Award

February 12, 2019

Santa Clara, CA · January 15, 2019Quobyte® Inc., a leading developer of modern storage system software, announced today its Data Center File System was awarded the bronze medal in the Software-Defined and Cloud Storage category of the Storage magazine and SearchStorage 2018 Products of the Year awards.

“Quobyte's 'up-and-comer' distributed parallel file system caught judges' attention as being easier to deploy, operate and manage in high-performance environments,” wrote senior editor Carol Sliwa.

The announcement praises Quobyte for new features that make its Data Center File System easy to administer even across geographically separated datacenters and/or clouds.

“Quobyte also worked to simplify the installation and management of the software and created a cloud-based service to assist customers with Domain Name System service configuration in version 2.0,” wrote Sliwa. “One key new feature in version 2.0 of the Data Center File System is continuous, asynchronous volume mirroring across geographies and clouds for disaster recovery purposes.”

Selected from 51 finalists in six categories on the basis of its innovation, performance, ease of integration, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value, Quobyte’s Data Center File System provides a massively scalable and fault-tolerant storage infrastructure. It decouples and abstracts commodity hardware to deliver low-latency and parallel throughput for the substantial requirements of cloud services and apps, the elasticity and agility to scale to thousands of servers, and to grow to hundreds of petabytes with little to no added administrative burden. With Quobyte, databases, scale-out applications, containers, even big data analytics can run on one single infrastructure.

“We thank Storage magazine and SearchStorage for recognizing the challenging customer environments where our Data Center File System excels, because ease of management is a critical factor considering the scale of today’s organizations,” said Bjoern Kolbeck, Quobyte co-founder and CEO. “Each winner in each category has a unique way of meeting the needs of enterprises and we congratulate our industry vendor peers for their well-earned wins.”
