All data management in Quobyte is controlled through the policy engine – your control center for your data. Policies define where data is stored, when and which data is tiered to more cost-effective media, or the life cycle of files (immutability, auto expiration), just to name a few.

With Quobyte’s policy engines, you can define policies at any level – from entire tenants down to specific file types owned by a user. UI support ensures that managing the policies is a breeze.

The policy engine is a single place to configure – and also non-disruptively reconfigure – your cluster: Implement hardware isolation for tenants, workloads, or users. Automate tiering to HDD or QLC. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GPDR, or MPAA rules with placement, isolation, encryption, immutability, and automatic deletion.

Fast File Metadata Queries

Quickly find files that match your queries across all volumes instead of waiting for a slow find with the Quobyte File Query Engine. Quobyte’s ultra-fast key-value-store databases for metadata run queries in parallel across all your metadata servers. Your queries always run on the latest data and there are no resources wasted with a copy of the metadata or an extra database.

With the File Query Engine, you can select files based on a wide range of attributes like size, age, last access, file name regular expression or glob matches, or custom metadata stored in extended attributes and via S3 custom metadata.
